Our CoCo Doula Program is empowering families, supporting parents, and making a tangible difference in maternal and perinatal health outcomes across Contra Costa County.
Transforming Maternal Health in Contra Costa County
FIERCE Advocates' CoCo Doula Program has become a cornerstone of maternal and perinatal health, improving outcomes for birthing families in Contra Costa County. Looking back at 2024, our dedicated doulas supported the safe delivery of 183 babies, with two more arriving to close out the year!
Expanding Culturally Responsive Care
This program continues to expand its culturally responsive health and wellness services for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) families, addressing the specific needs of doula care. Through partnerships with Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI) and the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), FIERCE’s CoCo Doulas are thrilled to welcome the 2025 Apprenticeship Program Cohort. This cohort will join a growing network of over 50 doulas making a difference throughout Contra Costa County.

Most importantly, we take our direction from residents, ensuring they are active participants in shaping and implementing our work.

Our guiding mission is to foster individual and systemic transformation in West Contra Costa County, creating opportunities for parents and caregivers of color to embody resilience and power. BIPOC parents continually rise to meet personal and community challenges—navigating adversities, healing from trauma, and cultivating spaces where families can thrive in their uniqueness.
