Shukura grew up in Richmond, CA and attended public schools in the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD), where she later pursued a 10-year youth development career. Her love for children and families was sparked at a young age when her mother opened a home-based family daycare. Shukura found her passion in serving as a Program Director at three schools (Downer, Lincoln, and Chavez). She is very grateful for the opportunity to work in her community in a place that she has long called home. Shukura's favorite quote is, "People don't care what you know until they know you care."
